What kind of mom does that?!

The girls and I went to Costco today. I usually go when Eric can go with me so that I don't have to push the cart or load anything too big. But Eric has been super busy lately and has also been trying to fit in time to fix our cars, so I figured I could brave it alone this time. Both girls fit in the seat of the cart, so I got into the store and got all of the things I needed pretty quickly. The 52 pound bag of dog food slowed me down a bit, and once I added toilet paper and paper towels, I couldn't see over the top of the cart anymore. When the lady reloaded my cart after I payed for everything ($$$ ouch, by the way), she just threw everything in and things started falling off of the cart. I resorted to making Savvy hold two big boxes in her lap while I slowly rolled us through the parking lot to the car. It then took me 10 minute to figure out how to fit everything into the car. I forgot the fact that I was driving Eric's Honda Accord with 2 car seats in it and not my normal Passport SUV. The dog food and toilet paper got to ride in the passenger seat while the diapers practically sat in the girls' laps. What was I thinking?!

After stopping by the grocery store to grab a few things, we headed out to the car again. Savvy was enjoying her bag of pretzels in the seat of the cart. The sun was blinding Vanessa laying in her car seat so I decided to put her in the car first. I picked up her car seat and buckled her in and then grabbed the bags and placed them on the floor underneath the car seat since every other available space was taken. I turned around to grab Savvy and she was not in the same spot I left her in. She was sitting in the cart, still enjoying her pretzels, while the cart slowly rolled down the slanted parking lot away from the parking spot and toward the lane where cars drive!! She was almost to the middle of the road when I caught her. What mom lets her kid roll away into the street?! To top it off-- someone in my ward saw the whole thing. He got a good laugh out of it.

Don't worry Jenny. I've done a few things that would go in this category too, but much worse. So, just join the club. =)

Jenny, bless your little heart. I think we as moms have those kind of days every now and then, more often that what we would like. You are a wonderful mother with your two little girls. I have done much worse with my 2 kids, I think it's just a fact of life for us moms. I still take my kids grocery shopping and to Costco without Ben. They do get better in due time. You are wonderful and brave!

hey, I bet Savy thought it was pretty fun to be rolling away in the cart. It is one of those things that you will all laugh at when Savy is grown and does something similiar as a mom. I can't believe you braved costco by yourself! Go girl!

You are a great story teller Jenny! If that is the worst you do as a Mom then you are in good shape right? At least you can laugh at yourself and post it on your blog!
