We've tried just about everything in terms of discipline and consequences to get the girls to clean up their bedroom and messes around the house. Our latest tactic involved having the girls do an extra chore if they didn't do what they were asked.I randomly gave the example of cleaning the toilet as one of those chores, which put Vanessa over the edge. She bawled the entire time she cleaned her room, crying,
"I don't want to clean the yucky toilet!"
I had to explain over and over that there were many chores around the house to choose from AND she wouldn't even have to do any of them including the toilet if she would just clean her room.
Well, the next day, the girls decided not to clean up their room, so I put them to work. They each got to clean up a bathroom, which I thought would make an impact
It didn't.
They both loved cleaning the bathroom,
including the toilet.
Any other suggestions?!?!

We play "beat the timer" but it only works if I'm cleaning with them. Let me know when you figure it out!
Beat them. :)
