Retirement

After 8 wonderful months of working full time,
we are saddened to announce
the retirement
of the yellow princess dress. It was born (by the hands of myself and the Saint Aunt Myrna)
simply to be a Halloween costume,
maybe to be worn for a month or so.
Vanessa's interest in the dress dwindled
for a short while and then grew to become
an obsession.This dress endured
countless food stains,
trips to the store,
a growing toddler
a few washes,
numerous bike rides,
and thousands of twirls.
And while grandma has prolonged the
life of the dress on many occasions,
it is time to let it rest,
for it just can not withstand any more mending.
But all is not lost.
Vanessa's dress up days are not over,
for a new dress was bought
(definitely not made by me).Minnie Mouse has moved in.

How sad to retire that yellow dress. It really was beautiful. (I will always be impressed by your mad sewing skills!) Hope the Minnie dress can live up to its predecessor's standards.

RIP yellow dress. Looks like it had a great life. Are you having a special ceremony for its retirement?

Long live the Minnie Mouse dress!
