For just a moment,
I'd like to take a break from these two crazy kids:
to talk about the other two people in this family.
Eric began his long-awaited training with
Bavarian Motor Works
(that's BMW)
this last week.
When he arrived at the orientation,
they handed him his own laptop to keep
as well as $50 shirts inscribed with the BMW logo.
(Do they realize these shirts are going to be covered in oil and grease?)
They also gave him a ridiculous amount of homework to finish
before the training even began.
In the last 7 days,
Eric has studied more than
he has in the last 14 years combined.
The girls and I are not adjusting well to
leaving daddy alone while he is home to study,
but we'll get used to it eventually.
We purposely leave all of our errands for the afternoon now
and are trying out new activities to pass the time until he can play.
Only 23 more weeks until he is finished.
I'm enjoying being the mom.
I am especially enjoying it while being around my own mother.
I'm constantly asking her,
"What did you do in this situation?"
in regards to my girls' screaming fits, fights, and tantrums.
I just finished performing in a fun musical.
To everyone's surprise (and my own),
I tap danced and sang my little heart out
with my mom behind me on the piano.
Now my time is divided between my family,
helping prepare for our church girls camp,
and a little bit of crafting.
Because of our hectic schedules,
Eric and I took advantage of the babysitting available at home
to go on a little vacation this weekend.
This would be the very first time that
we had gone anywhere on our own
since having children.
It was the perfect weekend,
spent in the same place we went on our honeymoon
almost 5 years ago.

Thanks to my parents (and Uncle Dan)
for taking care of the girls.
I'm not sure they even missed us at all.

Wow. The building hasn't changed a bit. Now you two on the other hand...
Good luck to Eric on his new "adventure". It's been a long time coming and I'm sure he'll do great as usual. Glad you two had the chance to get away.
P.S. You're doing girls' camp now??
You guys are such great parents. I'm glad you had the chance to get away for a minute. It's well deserved. Thank Heaven for awesome family babysitters.
Oh yes, Steph. I was asked to do all of the certification and crafts at girls camp this year. I'm a really convenient helper for the Stake President right now.
Good luck to you both! Hopefully this time goes by quickly! Glad you guys could get away. Those trips are always nice :)
I hope that needed vacation was a blast! Way to go Eric. That sounds very time consuming but well worth it in the end.
LOL That is really funny about being a convenient helper to the Stake Prez....that's tends to happen a lot working for my dad too. Hm. :/
