The Happiest Place on Earth

We have returned from another adventure in California. This one was extra special because we took Savannah to Disneyland! The girls had a blast playing with Uncle Dan, grandma and grandpa all weekend. Eric and my dad went to the NHRA Finals on Friday where they watched extremely noisy cars race down a track all day long. They had a blast! The girls spent Friday shopping and playing. We ventured over to the homecoming JV football game at my old high school where everyone around us panicked every time Savvy walked across and up and down the bleachers. She made friends with EVERYONE, talking to them and even trying to get an older guy to share his doritos with her.
On Saturday we headed to Disneyland. All day long we talked about how empty the park was. I'm sure a combination of the bad weather (ash was raining everywhere from the fires in CA), the bad economy and a lull before the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas rush all contributed to the lack of people. We stayed in Fantasyland all morning, walking on to almost every ride. I think we only waited 10-15 minutes for the Dumbo ride. Savvy loved it. Vanessa even didn't mind riding everything, except she had to be with her momma whenever it got dark.
My mom held Vanessa while we all went on the teacups-- Eric and Dan got the teacup spinning as fast as possible and the people standing next to my mom were concerned that those big boys would take such a tiny girl with them... but Savvy was laughing and cheering the boys on while she spun.
My dad joined us at lunchtime and then we made our way to other areas of the park. The big kids rode the Matterhorn and then we found Nemo. Then we ventured over by train to Adventureland and went on the Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean. I had totally forgotten that you fly down a few slopes during Pirates-- and as soon as we went down them, I thought, "What kind of crazy person takes their baby on this ride?!?!" Oh-- I do. We ate dinner at a restaurant with excellent entertainment and then the boys hit Indiana Jones and we watched the birds in the Tiki Room. After that, we went on the new Winnie the Pooh ride. The girls were wearing out, so mom and I took Savvy on the carousel one more time and then headed home and the boys rode a few more rides. We had a blast and almost never want to go again for fear of it being crowded and not as fun! When Savannah gets really tired, she just rests her arms on her legs. She was so tired by the end of the night, that she couldn't even hold her new toys in her hands anymore. Instead of asking someone else to hold them, she just put them in her mouth for safekeeping so that she could rest.
We had such a great time. Thanks to Uncle Dan, grandpa and grandma for playing and definitely spoiling all of us!

I'm so sad we didn't come. Looks like it was tons of fun. I can only imagine how worn out Savvy was from all that fun.

Sounds like so much fun. I hope that we can take Dutch there one day soon. How great to start making such fun memories while they are still so young.

Justin and I loved Disneyland when we went as well. The kiddy rides were crowded but not the adult rides. I also am afraid of going again and having our perfect memories ruined.

Like the rest I am jealous. I'm always looking for good deals to get back there. It's so nice to be in fantasy land for a few days.
