Big Girl Bed
Vanessa is moving around so much in her little bed now that we thought it was time to move her to the big crib... but in order to do that, Savannah can't sleep in it. And since we thought it would take a while to train Savvy to sleep in her bed, we decided to get her one and start working on it.
We got Savvy a toddler bed because we figured that a twin size bed would be too big in the bedroom... with the crib and the bed in there, there would be no room to play. We also figured that we would have at least one little kid around for enough years to use it and make it worth the money. Eric put it together last night and Savvy thought it was pretty cool in her room.
We did the normal bedtime routine and then put her bed... we turned off the light and shut the door, thinking that we would be doing that over and over again for at least an hour. Savvy cried for a few minutes and then was quiet... and we never saw her again that night. She just went to sleep in her bed. Granted she was backwards in it when Eric went in later, but she was asleep as if she had slept in a real bed her whole life. When I went to check on her at 7:00 this morning, she was asleep on the couch with her blankets. She hadn't tried to wake us up or get into anything-- she must have just been following my normal routine of sleeping on the couch in the morning. Ha ha. We figured the whole thing was luck and that we would be having a war at naptime today, but I told her to stay in her bed and take a rest and she maybe cried for 1 minute before she went to sleep. Lucky us!!
Vanessa has a pretty bad cold right now. She and I were up most of Friday night watching the Olympic decathlon on T.V. She slept through the night last night, but when she woke up, her nose was almost completely closed up with snot. I've used the booger sucker (you know, that blue suction thing) a billion times on her and she can still barely breath. Poor little girl. Eric stayed home from church with her today and despite being miserable, she still smiles and laughs every time you look at her.

You were very lucky. I hear horror stories all the time when it is time to move from the crib to the big bed.
I thought it was going to be tough to get Dutch in a big boy bed but he did so well. I'm glad Savannah took to it really easy for you. It's so much fun to have them in a big bed.
Anthony LOVED his big-boy bed too! I'm glad savvy did as well. it makes things a lot easier! I hope vanessa gets over her cold soon...we are battling that with both my kids right now! Tis the season.
That is great that Savvy did so well. She looks so grown up laying in that bed.

I love that bed, it's adorable. Hopefully training her to sleep in it will continue to go well. Vanessa continues to get more and more adorable as the days go by.
