We're finally back in Phoenix after a fun week in CA. We all headed to my parent's house last weekend to watch my brother, Dan, compete in his first karate tournament. It was a little scary to watch him spar with another kid, but he won his very first fight!!

He took home the silver medal. How cool is that?!

We spent the rest of that evening playing in Anaheim, and then headed back to the valley to relax with the family.

Poor Eric drove home to Phoenix alone while Savannah and I stayed to get a few projects done and play with my mom. I actually don't have ANY pictures from the week because we were too busy working on projects, but Savvy did enjoy playing with Uncle Dan and following the dog around. We worked on a HUGE rag quilt to go on Dan's bed, cut wood to make some new decorations, and made frames. I had embroidered these cute things over the last couple weeks to put in my girls' room, assuming that I would buy some frames while shopping in CA... well I couldn't find any 6 x 6 frames to fit them, so my mom and I ventured to Home Depot, bought some molding, and figured out how to work the big saw that cuts angles. We cut the wood, glued and stapled it together, sanded, painted, sanded again and stained these. I think I may become a carpenter in my spare time.

My parents brought us back to Phoenix on Friday... and the boys spent all Saturday at the drag races. Eric is now converted to drag racing. He LOVED it. It's a little too manly and noisy for us girls, so we shopped all day and found some great things for my sister's wedding.

Savvy is such a doll AND a terror right now. This morning she screamed and threw a fit for over an hour for no reason. No one told me that the terrible twos start way before she's even 1 1/2. I really was ready to just lock myself in my room and go back to bed instead of trying to deal with her at church.... but then this afternoon, she sat at the organ and played music for a while. The cutest part was when she turned around and started "singing" Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree... doing every single motion. When she was finished, she turned around and started playing the organ again. She has such a sweet but fiery personality.

Jenny those embroideries turned out so cute! I'm very impressed you guys made those frames. I just laughed and laughed when I read that about Savvy. My mom always cursed me with a daughter that would be just like me. Good thing I only remember being sweet and helpful all of the time :) I'm sure my mom has different memories.
Jenny you are one crafty woman. I am impressed as well with your ambition and dedication to your projects as well as being a great mom to savvy. Glad you had fun with your family.
Your embroideries are really, really cute. You should definitely start selling those. I will be the first order on your list. I would love to learn how to make them but I know that they would never turn out as good. Maybe over the week in Albuquerque you can teach me a thing or two. and I love those frames! You guys are too good.
As for Savvy - I definitely feel your pain. Our pediatrician told us to beware... who knew the extremity though! Kaiya is definitely a handful right now too. Guess we will have quite the party over spring break!
Welcome to toddlerhood. No offense, I have little sympathy, only because I have three that act that way! You eventually learn that the only thing you can do to keep your sanity is to laugh!!
I'm glad you had a fun time in CA. Your projects sure are cute!
Jodi, those embroideries are SUPER easy... way easier than cross-stitching. You'll love them. I'll try and remember to bring a new one to do in ABQ so that you can learn!
I love how Savy is sittin all pretty with her legs crossed. Natalie will cross her legs in her car seat- they must be related or something! What a fun week. I bet Eric loved the drag races, no surprise there. I bet Braden would go with him in a heart beat.
